Through years of these trials my people know pain
Through years and generations we give with no gain
Some torture some kill some rape us at will
We know it is wrong yet without courage and will
The struggle continues the suffrage the chill
It takes but a single person who cares
A host of the brilliance to light up our stares
A person of morals a person unbowed
From years of enslavement from curses and frown
Here comes a bringer of virtues expressed
To show us our freedom our rights and our bliss
To show us our options as humans complete
Without social suggestion of dirt to mistreat
We know in this world is the labor so cheap
That a people imprisoned by caste won’t compete
But now this has changed so best be prepared
I swallow no longer my hardship my pain
No more do I hunger for acceptance through shame
Here now I gather the land of my love
Here now I stand with my fingers ungloved
I touch you I squeeze you I sit where you sit
I pour you the water you drink from my hand
This justice is planned as my fire is lit!
For I have become emancipated Dalit!
